She goes by Ms. Proper. I actually met this talented MC through a family member while clubbing in downtown Richmond, VA. She suggested I listen to a few of her tracks and instantly, I fell in love. Ms. Proper has a sound of her own that is captivating and raw. She is far from shy when she steps on to the mic and always speaks her mind. With lyrics like "Lyrically I'm dangerous, mentally I'm part deranged, physically it's all the same" and "Crown me. If I die, at least I'm going down with royalty around me," Ms. Proper pairs cunning lines and up-tempo beats to lure in her listeners. The delivery of her rhymes makes you say "dang shawty got bars!!!!" She is more than your average and far from your usual.
I have witnessed Ms. Proper perform live. She oozes swag and personality, which makes her "ohhh so proper" in her own right. She is very entertaining and knows how to rock and hype a crowd. I was intrigued by her commanding stage presence and natural ability to have fun. Watching her have fun made me want to have fun with her. Did I mention the crowd loved her that night? They really loved her. They were rocking with her while rapping her lyrics.
Ms. proper was born in Fayetteville, N.C. Shortly after, her family relocated to Chesterfield, VA. At the age of 8, she was inspired by her mother, who wrote poetry, to learn how to express herself through words. At first, writing was just a hobby, but by the time she was in high school, she realized how much she wanted to be known for her music. She decided to start her own record label. From there, "So Proper Entertainment" was born. Since 2007, she has dropped 4 mixtapes, each mixtape gaining notoriety. She has also had some major accomplishments from collaborations with Digital Dynasty and Mike Bevins (New Edition), to opening for artists such as Jae Millz, Big K.R.I.T., Cyhi Da Prince and Pretty Ricky. In January 2013, she released her first single, which is available for purchase on iTunes, entitled "Get it Started" (I truly adore this song).
Ms. Proper has big plans for 2014. Her debut album, "Escaping Reality" will be released later this year. Her #HipHopMadeMeCool movement will continue unabated and will garner more attention from the industry and fans alike. She launched her personal website: www.Hiphopmademecool.com (#HHMMC). On this website, you can keep up with Ms. Proper and her own fashion meme with her #HipHopMadeMeCool T-shirts and wrist bands.

"That Awkward Moment"
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of going to see the newly released movie "That Awkward Moment," starring Micheal B. Jordan, Zac Efron and Miles Teller. Assuming from the previews, I thought this would be a typical guy movie with bad jokes that no woman would understand, kind of like "Ted"..... well, I'm happy to admit I was wrong. This movie is based on three men and the awkward moments they face while trying to "find love." This movie makes you laugh and has moments that will even make you cry (a tiny bit). This movie really shows a journey for these young men and how much they grow because of these awkward moments. I truly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it for anyone to go see. It's even a suitable movie for date night.. so ladies tell your man to take you to see this movie. I don't want to say too much because that will give it away, but be prepared to see some sexy bodies, sex, and all around awkward moments. Overall, I give this movie 2 thumbs up and 4 stars. If you see the movie and you happen to disagree do tell !!!! My friend's and I tried to count the number of awkward moments. You should too and comment how many you caught!
