Entertainer of the Week
20-year-old St. Petersburg, Florida native, Anthony Marquis, is making a name for himself in the dance industry with skills rivaling some of his biggest inspirations. Moving from home at the inexperienced age of 15, he left his friends and family behind, relocating to Atlanta, GA with his grandmother, to pursue a career as a professional dancer. As he spent endless hours dancing alone in Atlanta's most elite studio, Dance 411 Studios, word spread of the young man’s raw talent. He was swept up, nurtured and trained by some of the hottest choreographers in ATL including D-ray Colson, KiKi Ely, Sakinah Lestage, and Codie Wiggins, By the age of 17, he was being mentored by renowned choreographer Sean Bankhead.
Things were moving fast for Anthony as his career was skyrocketing. He made the courageous choice to slow down and return to Florida to graduate from high school. Since his graduation, June 7th of 2012, Anthony has been on 2 tours, one with pop girl group the OMG Girlz and Mindless Behavior's "All Around the World" tour. He has been in multiple music videos including T-Pain and Austin Mahone. His other accomplishments include an appearance on the hit television show the Real Housewives of Atlanta and has shared the stage with legends like Doug-E-Fresh and Chaka Khan.
Currently, you can catch Anthony teaching classes at Dance 411 Studios as he prepares for the Hit the Floor Dance Convention on August 1-3, 2014, in which he will also be teaching at. This young man puts his heart and soul into the craft he loves, as his talent in choreography defies all expectations. I particularly enjoy his ability to deliver a song's message through his moves, which translates through his students. Check him out and let us know what you think!
