I have been intending to describe my workout routine for some time now. Since then, my routine has changed as I find myself lacking the motivation I use to have. At one point, I was satisfied with my body and inadvertently fell back into my habits of bad eating and minimal exercise. Before I realized, I had gained 5 lbs. I found myself making excuses as to why I couldn't work out; just couldn't bring myself to exercising an hour a day. I was enjoying the break. After that additional 5 lbs sank in, I changed my routine. It is now shorter and more convenient. Before, I was doing insanity with Shaun T. It was entirely too long and I was tired all day afterwards.
15 Minute Morning Jog
One morning I woke up and realized my commitment to daily exercise diminished. I had become somewhat lazy and began making excuses for why I did not have time to work out. As I do not count this 15 minute morning jog as my workout, I decided to incorporate it into my daily routine to ensure I at least engaged in some sort of exercise. I actually take this jog with my two pups, Latte and Ccino. I usually burn 185 - 200 calories during this jog. I typically stop anytime the boys have to use the bathroom. During those times, I either jog in place or perform some plyometric exercises:
- 30 squats
- 100 toe taps on the curb
- 10 elevated squats per leg
- 10 elevated lunges per leg
- 60 butt kicks
21 Day Fix
Autumn Calabrese is a celebrity trainer and nutritionist. She is also a Godsend. She has made weight training fun, convenient and dummy proof. I was laying in bed one morning and saw the infomercial. I ordered the workout immediately. What sold me was the specific eating plan that allowed you to still eat what you want but control your portions. She supplies you with color coded containers so that you get the right portions of vegetables, fruits, proteins, carbs, healthy fats and cheese, seeds and oils. My biggest struggle is committing to "healthy" and "clean" eating. I honestly don't want to. I love to eat and do not care to change that. LOL. But what I will say is that portion control is the best way to contain my love for food.
Flexibility is very important for muscle movement. It helps avoid injuries that could occur during workouts while increasing your body's ability to recover and function. Stretching is also relaxing, warms muscle fibers, warms joint fluids, increases respiratory rate and blood flow. I stretch daily and love how flexible I have remained since actively participating in a sport. Start by adding 5 -10 minutes of stretching to your daily routine, then increase it to 10 - 15 minutes.
