Early this morning, rapping group, Migos, were involved in a "mafia style" shoot out in Miami, Florida. The trio, along with eight others, were driving down the highway on their party van when an unidentified dark vehicle pulled up beside them and opened fire. The two vehicles exchanged gunfire and the other vehicle fled the scene. One member of Migos' camp was allegedly injured and sought treatment at Jackson Memorial Hospital. However, Migos' manager asserted no one was hurt from their camp. The reasons for this incident are currently unknown and Miami police confiscated the party van from the hospital to process it as evidence. More information will be available as Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
Have we not learned anything from the deaths of Tupac and Biggie? Why are we (by we I mean urban america) so quick to pick up a gun to handle our business? I am no Migos fan, nor do I know if this situation stemmed from a previous conflict; but, what I do know is that too many of our younger generations believe everything should be handled by firearm. I swear, everyone wants to be a thug. And to be a thug, "I need to have a gun." Gun violence is entirely too high right now and we need to teach our children alternative solutions to problems. These young men could have succumb to the same fates as those of Tupac and Biggie. I hope this situation help them see the error of their ways.
Thug LIFE + Gun LIFE = NO LIFE.
