Zendaya Coleman has officially dropped out of Lifetime's biopic of the late Aaliyah. Sources say she is no longer involved in the project due to the negative reaction from Aaliayh's family. Zendaya reported right before the BET Awards that she backed out for production reasons. "... It was not all the way there, so I didn't want to do that. And when the time comes when it's done right and it's 100%, by all means, I will be he first person ready to go," says Zendaya.

Lifetime has placed the production on hold and there is no telling whether they will continue on with the movie. I think this is the best move Zendaya could make to protect her reputation and career. Lifetime should be ashamed for even considering producing a film without the family of the singer's blessing.

"Disregarding the families and dishonoring the legacies of celebrated figures who have passed on, big networks want to exploit their stories for a buck. We're here to make it clear that it's not okay!"
-Statement from the Haughton Family
